About

Kelcy’s Restaurant has been a much loved Tehachapi institution for many years.  Opened in 1969 by Kelcy and Marjorie Owens on the site of the former Trusty’s restaurant, Kelcy’s quickly became a local favorite for its friendly service and welcoming atmosphere.  Generations of Tehachapi residents grew up, worked, and celebrated family milestones here.  Tourists from around the world would stop to enjoy this classic American diner with its many historical photos dating back over the last 100 years.

Husband and wife William Lee and Virginia Sheridan reopened Kelcy’s in 2019 with the goal of preserving its history and small town charm, while updating the menu for the 21st century.  Keeping the traditional favorites of broasted chicken, homemade pie and biscuits and gravy, they added numerous fresh salads, vegetarian and vegan options, as well as catering. Everything, from the coleslaw to the milkshakes, the grilled salmon to the chicken fried steak,  is made from scratch with an emphasis on fresh quality ingredients.

When you are looking for delicious homemade food in a comfortable friendly setting, Kelcy’s is the place for you.  Come hungry, leave happy.  Arrive as a stranger, leave as a friend.  We look forward to serving you soon!
